CHAPTER EIGHT

Exodus Into The Stars

Nicolea stood with the Missionary as the shuttle carrying his friend Jon lifted up into space to find the Utopian shipyards. Soshiana stood behind them, quietly. Once the shuttle had left the view of those on the ground, the Missionary turned to Nicolea and said, “We should speak before we have to depart. We have about a week before that happens.” He peeked over at Soshiana. “I need to speak with you alone.”

Nicolea watched the Missionary lead Soshiana back the way they came. He hung back so the other two could talk, but kept them in his sight. Once they reached the cavern entrance into the city’s underground, the Missionary was waiting for him. Soshiana had moved on.

“She has gone to help get things ready,” the Missionary explained to him. “It will take about a week or so before it is the time to head out.” As they walked deeper into the cave, he asked, “You know she’s an abomination?”

Nicolea nodded. “I know, and when I first met her, she acted like an abomination, working for Thermonte Electrik, doing that which was evil. And after speaking with her after all these years, I believe she has changed. Once she was stiff, robotic, acting like a bio-tek. But after these years, teaching her, talking to her, we found out that it wasn’t her idea to become what she is now. She seems to have a mind of her own now. She has her free will back.”

“Does she know that what she is is considered an abomination in the Light?”

“She does,” Nicolea answered. “She also knows there is hope for her, and that everything is possible with the Lord of Light. All she has to do is to believe in the life, death, and resurrection of Iosa. I believe she is on the road to the recovery of her soul.”

The Missionary smiled. “I pray she is, for every soul is precious.”

That evening, Nicolea finally got to spend some time alone. He removed one of the scrolls from his satchel, lit a candle within the cave he was staying in, and read. Nearby, Soshiana lay near the burning fire. He didn’t know if she was sleeping, or if she even could sleep. She seemed to have been doing more and more relaxing since she had been learning about the Lord of Light. He wasn’t going to bother her.

He just smiled and commenced reading the scroll.

Gideon came down to see Lenok every night he was in the dungeon. On the third night, after Gideon had left and all was quiet, the White Seraph appeared before the Prophet Warrior and spoke to him.

“The next night when Gideon comes forth to visit with you, you must give him instruction and he will have to follow it to the letter. You must tell Gideon to tell the Ghel people to sacrifice the youngest of their flock and spread its blood above the door of their homes. They are to do this on the eve of the decree coming to fruition.
